SUMMARY:Celebrating John Cobb's New Book
DESCRIPTION:Jesus’s Mission and Ours\n\n\n\nIn John’s previous 50 books he did not say all he’d like to about Jesus and about his experiences in China in behalf of Ecological Civilization. So here’s what he wants to share in what may be his “last book.” \n\n\n\n“To follow Jesus today is to adopt the most inclusive mission in our day. That is\, to save the world from the self-destruction on which it now seems bent.” \n\n\n\nJohn invites you to join him and Ron Hines\, David Lull\, Jane Douglass\, Pat Beiting\, and Pilgrim neighbors to explore his message\, which includes some of the following: \n\n\n\nJesus’ Understanding of SalvationThe Fading of Historical ConsciousnessSo\, What Is Our Mission Now?Deconstructing American Self-UnderstandingHow Ecological Civilization is PossibleCan God Help?\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Zoom Meeting\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nTo receive event access information contact us via our online form or an send an email to events@cobb.institute.

SUMMARY:Can a Local Church Be Saved
DESCRIPTION:A Discussion of John Cobb’s new book\, “Salvation”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe calling of a Christian\, says John Cobb\, is not to imitate the beliefs of Jesus but rather to share in his faith: to be open to a loving God in our way and our time as he was in his way and his time. And it is to his hope\, along with him\, that a truly beloved society can emerge in which love\, not violence\, is the norm. For Jesus the challenge to this hope was Rome; for Christians today the challenge is Modernity. If we are Christian\, can we save ourselves from ourselves\, so that this kind of world can emerge? John Cobb’s answer in Salvation: Jesus’ Mission and Ours is “yes\, maybe.” It depends on whether communities of Christians – local churches – can roll up their sleeves and help hope become a reality. Join Rev. Dr. Jen Strickland and Rev. Dr. Jacob Buchholz of the Claremont United Church of Christ (Claremont\, CA)\, along with Dr. Jay McDaniel and the author himself\, Dr. John Cobb\, for an introduction to the book and a discussion of this possibility. \n\n\n\n\n\nWho\n\n\n\n\n\nJen Strickland and Jacob Buchholz\, Jay McDaniel\, John Cobb\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Zoom Meeting\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP TO RECEIVE EVENT ACCESS INFORMATION

SUMMARY:Process Thought At A New Threshold
DESCRIPTION:John Cobb invites the process movement to reflect on the possibility that we are at a new threshold. Maybe\, at last\, the thinking we have done about creative transformation and ecological civilization will capture the imagination of millions and make a real contribution to radical change of collective behavior. At this gathering we will consider how we can work together to respond to the call to save the world. It’s worth trying. \n\n\n\nConference Invitation from John CobbSecond Letter from John CobbConference Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Zoom Meeting\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP to receive Zoom meeting information.
