Presenter(s): Evaggelos Vallianatos

Evaggelos Vallianatos describes his talk:

The powerpoint presentation is an introduction to my new book on Freedom: Clear Thinking and Inspiration from 5,000 Years of Greek History (Universal Publishers, 2025). My presentation will highlight key events in Greek history and draw parallels to our times. Ancient Greeks from about 3,000 BCE to the second century AD, made tremendous contributions to science and civilization like epic poetry, political theory, democracy, history, literature, philosophy, theater, Olympics, gorgeous sculpture and architecture, science and technology and civilization. These achievements set the foundations of Western civilization. The lessons of Greek history are especially relevant to our troubled times.
