Discovering her asexual and aromantic identity later in life opened the door for Cindy Mundahl to see just how deeply cultural norms around sex, romance, and couplehood shape all of us. Using her personal story as a backdrop, we’ll explore how compulsory sexuality and amatonormativity influence everything from our relationships to our laws, housing, communities, and expectations of “normal” life. Together, we’ll look at how these often-unquestioned assumptions impact us individually and collectively—and imagine more expansive, liberatory ways of relating, connecting, and belonging that arise when we challenge the norms we’ve taken for granted.

Cindy Mundahl is a spiritual director, writer, activist, and truth seeker. She has presented at the international Out & Equal Workplace Summit and the LGBTQIA+ Fortune 500 Leadership Series on the topics of creating supportive communities for asexuals and aromantics. She has also led peer support groups for the transgender and nonbinary communities. She writes on the topics of self transformation, spiritual wholeness, and reshaping relationships. Her memoir Reclamation: An Asexual, Aromantic, Gender-Expansive Journey to Wholeness will be published in Spring 2026. Cindy currently offers spiritual direction and group spiritual education at Arising From Within.
