Asexuality and Aromanticism: An Exploration of the Personal and Collective Costs of Compulsory Sexuality and Amatonormativity | Cindy Mundahl
December 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
Discovering her asexual and aromantic identity later in life opened the door for Cindy Mundahl to see just how deeply cultural norms around sex, romance, and couplehood shape all of us. Using her personal story as a backdrop, we’ll explore how compulsory sexuality and amatonormativity influence everything from our relationships to our laws, housing, communities, and expectations of “normal” life. Together, we’ll look at how these often-unquestioned assumptions impact us individually and collectively—and imagine more expansive, liberatory ways of relating, connecting, and belonging that arise when we challenge the norms we’ve taken for granted.
