Announcement: Learning Lab Course Information
October 9, 2019
Dear Learning Lab Participants,
We’re so glad that you’ll be joining us for our inaugural course, “Healthy Future or Planetary Catastrophe?” As the term ‘learning lab’ implies, this is going to involve a bit of experimentation as we seek to creatively transform education for an ecological civilization. And since this is our very first attempt, please be patient with us if we run into some unexpected “bumps” along the road.
As a reminder, this is a ten-week series of lectures that is open to anyone who’s interested in the subject matter. There are no expectations, prerequisites, or requirements that must be met in order to participate; and there will be no assignments, grades, or certificates. In that sense, this is a very non-traditional course. However, our primary objective is to provide you with a genuinely enjoyable and inspiring learning experience that you can draw from as you work to bring about creative transformation within your own circles of influence.
We will begin each Saturday morning promptly at 9:00am PDT and end at about 11:00am. We’re located in Claremont, California, so if you’ll be joining in from another time zone, please plan your schedule accordingly. Each session will be streamed live online, but if you’re unable to watch live, no problem, because recordings will be available within 12-24 hours after the live session is over.
If you’re attending in person, we meet at the Middle Tree education center, which is located at 250 W 1st St #210 (on the south end of the Village). Use the stairs or the elevator on the east end side of the building to get to the second floor. Middle Tree is the first door on the right. Please arrive at least at least 5-10 minutes early.
The course webpage is located at the following URL: https://cobb.institute/courses/healthy-future-or-planetary-catastrophe/
If you aren’t logged in when you go to the page, you will see a “Not Enrolled” indicator just below the course title. To login, just click on the “Login” link in the upper right-hand side of the main menu at the top of the page. After you’ve logged in, scroll down to the “Course Content” section (below the “Course Schedule” section of information), and click on the link for that week. That will take you to a lesson page, which will have a link to the live stream or recording. When you’re done viewing the stream or recording, make sure to click the green “Mark Complete” button to indicate that you’ve completed it and are ready to view the next one lesson.
When you registered, you should have received an email with your username and password. If you haven’t logged in yet, please do that as soon as you get a chance so that you don’t run into any difficulties on Saturday. If you misplaced your login information, just let me know and I can send you your username along with instructions how to reset your password.
We want the online students to participate as much as possible, so there will be a live chat window next to the video that you can use to make comments or ask questions. I will be monitoring the live chat during each class session, so feel free to use it and I’ll do my best to relay them to Dr. Cobb. If he isn’t able to respond during a given session, I’ll make sure that he has a chance to review them and decide whether and how to respond (in writing or during the next week’s class).
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m really looking forward to learning together with you.
