Thanks for your comments Chris. I have tried to teach graduate business from a living perspective, particularly with the insights of John Dewey and other process theorist/practitioners. It is well received by some students/professors, accepted by another 1/3 or so and there are other students who are irritated by the attempt. I suspect that there are ways of doing this that would be more successful (encouraging and energizing) than with the methods I have thus far employed. But I often find what Maya Angelou observed, that what truly scares us is not death but life. I have a lot to learn…
Love it! Once you meet the mountain, ‘you’ are changed, and your life including the mountain can move on? I have places that are sacred to me, as they have been to others as well. I incorporate my relationships and past experiences. And the future is richer for it… poetry says it better…
I love your allegorical expression! Speaking while in the midst of life, rather than trying to stand at a distance and ‘see it clearly’, is perhaps a more helpful way of seeing and sharing reports of reality. It is interesting to think and express in relations in varying modes of subjectivity. As they say in Outward Bound, “If you can’t get out of it, get into it.” Thanks!
BTW, I really like how Jay Daniels finds many ways of talking about process thought through poetry and aesthetic language. He gives me courage to speak from my felt experience, where a more purely analytical perspective could find fault in that creative response.
Thanks Daniel! I appreciate your comments. Finding the right language is a poetic endeavor isn’t it? I also love seeing God ad the soul of the universe. God not only ’emerges out of felt relations’ but also perhaps provides a context for felt relations as a living influence. I long for better poetry of soul as a living process. Bruce
