Greater equity and fairness could be the lure as it was for a growth economy.

Thank you for your extensive research. Will have to delve deeper into this to write a meaningful response. Nonetheless, some very thought provoking material here.

The diversity of this group is incredible. Curious to know what triggered the thoughts that things are awry in our economy…

Sherburne’s book is great. We used it in my undergrad class on Process Philosophy. I would have been lost without it.

  • Hello Tim, Carolyn, Jinbao, Thomas and Rolla. I’m taking this course after the live version has ended. So excited to see such a diverse and interesting group interested in this approach.

I’ve been studying process thought since my college days, where I first read Whitehead, Jay McDaniel, Suan Langer, John Cobb and other process philosophers and thinkers.

John Cobb’s book, “For the Common Good”, has stuck with me since I read it in college. It has caused me great discomfort to experience first-hand the greed and selfishness of our current economic system, not to mention the isolation and marginalization it’s produced as a byproduct of “growth”. Not that it is all bad, but it can’t possibly be the most efficient or effective way to meet the most basic needs of society.

I look forward to learning more from this course.

  • What an amazing experience Kevin! I’d be interesting to learn more about it. I’m a student of Japanese culture, film and art.

    Dan,

Where do clergy and parishioners find the foundation for their belief in this God waiting to do nefarious things? I recall in another post you mentioned that your are a minister in a Christian Church.

Sounds to me like they have some reconciliation to do if they have this fear of God you mention.

I’ve been leaning to this understanding of actual occasion in relation to strings in string theory. Although I lean with caution, as I’m no expert here.

Welcome Scott! I worked in funeral service as a licensed funeral director for 12 years. Would be interested in learning more about this topic with you and more about your experience.
