I’m still sorting through all this, Jennifer. You’re not alone. I do know that there are multiple schools of Bhuddism and Pure Land Buddhism is a very large one. I too would appreciate further insights from other classmates or instructors.

Thank you for your kind words, Wei-dong! I agree that a process-relational worldview is a wonderful resource of philosophical consultation. You may know that there is a field called “philosphical counseling” that could benefit people in this capacity.
- Bill EckertParticipant
Kyle, the quote about God’s faith in man also resonated with me a lot too!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Good points! I have been wondering whether Muhammad Iqbal was influence by Alfred North Whitehead or Whitehead by Iqbal. There definitely is quite a bit of alignment between them, even if independently derived.
- Bill EckertParticipant
Great points, Michael. I noticed these tensions as well.
- Bill EckertParticipant
I haven’t encountered that but it sounds intriguing. I will have to check it out. Yeah, it’s crazy how pervasive the ideas of a few individuals, like Rene Descartes, have been in Western thought and culture!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Sheri,
I haven’t read the paper yet, however, I found a paper in which Bonnita Roy has put Process Philosophy together with Intergral Theory in “A Process Model of Integral Theory”:

Thank you, Sheri! I will check out Doug King’s podcast!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Great to have someone with your background among the students, Gordon!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Hello Rolla,
I too am “post-theistic” if “theistic” is defined in traditional (or fundamentalist) terms. Like you, I have found a home in Process-Relational Thought. For me, it is the intellectual framework for my spiritual life and practices. I look forward to interacting with you in the class!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Hi Charlene,
We share a similar background in that I had rejected my former Christian fundamentalist beliefs and identified as an Agnostic-Atheist for several years. Process Thought and some life lessons in humility brought me back to a renewed spirituality. Asking questions is a key part of an authentic spirituality! I look forward to interacting with you in the class!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Hi Reinder,
Your PhD work sounds interesting! Best wishes with it and I look forward to interacting with you in the class!
- Bill EckertParticipant
Hi Jace,
It’s great to have you in the class. Like you, I don’t care for labels about my spirituality. If I use any, it’s InterSpiritual. I’ve followed Matthew Segall on YouTube long before he was a professor and he is one of the best at explaining Alfred North Whitehead in understandable terms. Panentheism also resonates with me as well as panpsychism. I look forward to interacting with you.
- Bill EckertParticipant
Hi Scott,
Great to have you in the class. I also consider myself InterSpiritual or Interfaith, though I don’t really like labels. I think the mystics from every religion agree with each other quite a bit. I think Process Thought helps me to intellecually understand things, at least as how they MAY be. It is core to my “working hypothesis” that informs my spiritual life and practice.

Hi Kyle,
I too am a fan of Thomas Jay Oord’s works and Open & Relational Theology. I loved his book by that name! Also, I also identify with Universalism, including Christian Universalism.
