Hi Keren, no worries, yes, that’s certainly possible. When you post in the session sub-forum, just re-state what you did in your first sentence here, and request that it be addressed in the live session.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
Thanks for reaching out, Bill. And thanks for helping, Nelson. Bill, I believe you’ve been able to find the links to the readings, but please let me know if you’re still having difficulty.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
They should be emailed to the instructor(s). I’m not sure which one will be reading and assessing the course projects, so you’ll need to check with them.

This is another test.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
This is a test post to check whether some changes to the forum settings worked.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
Thanks for checking. Yes, if you want to create a work of art for your class project, you should email Bob and Jay directly to share your idea/proposal and get their approval.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
Hi Donald,
No worries. I’ll resend you the course info email that has the Zoom access info it. Also, it can be found on each of the session pages, which are linked at the bottom of the main course page (here). In other words, scroll down to the bottom of the course page, click on the session, and on the session page you’ll see a section with Zoom Meeting Info. Let me know if you run into any difficulties finding it.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
Hi William,
If you’re familiar with how to select, copy, and paste text on an iPad, the process is the same. So after you submit your post, go to the address bar (it will be at the bottom or top, depending on your version of iOS), select and highlight the URL, and copy it. I would then suggest that you open an app, such as Notepad, and temporarily paste it there so it doesn’t get lost, but you don’t have to. Then, when you take your quiz, just paste it in the box where it asks for the URL. That’s it!
Let me know if that isn’t clear or doesn’t work for you.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
Hi Charlie,
Thanks for checking. Rather than creating another sub-forum, I think the “Certificate Program 2024 » Synthesis & Springboard Project” sub-forum is probably the best place to post them. And your suggestions to use “Synthesis Project: Project Title” for the post subject/title, to provide a summary of some kind in the content of the post, and to attach a PDF of link to the project all sound good to me.
- Richard LivingstonParticipantJuly 26, 2024 at 12:38 pm in reply to: technical question about writing in this Discussion Forum #28949
I’ll let you Google “What is HTML?” for yourself, because that’s a very big topic :-), and for now just say that the display and formatting of everything you see on a web page is controlled by HTML tags. And most HTML tags have an opening and a closing tag. For example, the
<strong>tag will make text appear bold. So to get the word BOLD to appear BOLD in a forum post, you need to surround the word with and opening and a closing<strong>tag, like this:<strong>BOLD</strong>.An
<img>tag is different, because it doesn’t have an opening and a closing. And in this forum, rather than uploading an images, you insert<img>tags by pasting in the URL to the image you want to display. So, as I think you’ve already discovered, when you click on the img button, it asks for the URL of the image you want to insert. Once you paste in the URL, the HTML code to display the image is automatically inserted into your post, and when you submit the post, the image is displayed and not the code. But if you look at the source code of the page you’ll see the HTML codes for the<img>Finally, there are two types of lists: ordered (numbers or letters) and unordered (bullets). List items are the individual items in any list. So here’s an example of an unordered list with three list items:
<ul>
<li>List Item 1</li>
<li>List Item 2</li>
<li>List Item 3</li>
</ul> - Richard LivingstonParticipant
No, unfortunately, there isn’t a “how to…”. While this discussion forum is adequate, I’m well aware that it’s a bit “old school” and not the most intuitive or user friendly. So for those familiar with classic discussion boards it’s fairly comfortable to use, but for this who either haven’t used one for a long time or haven’t used one ever, there’s obviously a bit of learning curve.
I’d be happy to have a longer conversation via Zoom if you’d like to go over anything or ask questions. Just let me know.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
I agree that it’s a bit of a pain to have to tick that box each time if you always want to receive notifications. To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a permanent setting to always enable notifications, but if you click the “Subscribe” option for the topic (next to the icon that looks like a bookmark), I believe it serves the same purpose. In other words, you should automatically receive notifications for any topic that you subscribe to.
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
We’re always trying to improve our offerings, so I really appreciate the suggestions here. These kinds of changes are something that would need to discussed and decided by Matt and our program leadership. And since we only have a couple of weeks left in the class, it may not happen for this course. But we will certainly consider them for future classes.
In the meantime, there is a group of students who have been meeting on their own via Zoom once a week (on Sundays) to discuss the material covered in the class sessions, certificate program matters, and even socialize a bit. If that’s something that you’d be interested in, please contact Chris Hughes (hughescrk@gmail.com).
- Richard LivingstonParticipant
1. No, this discussion forum doesn’t provide a way to directly message class members.
2. No, as matter of policy we keep everyone’s contact information private. But if there’s someone you’d like to contact, I’d be happy to help facilitate that privately via email (my email address is richard.livingston@cobb.institute). I’d also be glad to create a list to enable those who would like to share their contact information to do so. Let me know if you think something like the following would be adequate: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GNGwCMHIZduRI-VAsr9lIsdrV6kON1j77dwN1Y_-biY/edit
If it is we can then let the class know about it and invite them to share their information if they’d like- This reply was modified 1 year, 9 months ago by Richard Livingston.
